Seongeun Kim

Seongeun Kim’s work is inspired by abstract geometry. Full of square and geometric shapes, the works can be interpreted as a form of identity. Shapes represent the artist’s hometown, background, experience, places and memory. Kim is interested in why people wear jewellery. In the past, it may have been as a symbol of status or wealth or as identification or talisman. Today, it can also be seen an expression of identity. Kim’s work visualises inner identity and subjective emotions. “A cube box represents space – linked to places and the time I have lived, experience the world and led me into the unknown” explains the artist. “Square forms of hollow constructions link to other squares. It creates chains with infinite connections as uniqueness”.
