Designer Flora Mitchell’s aim is to give others the tools and confidence – in the form of garments – to explore and express their true identity without restrictions. Multilayered, non-gender-specific pieces allow the wearer to experiment with how they wish to present themselves to the world. Mitchell’s collection is inspired by a variety of people across time, from the Blitz Kids to Kurt Cobain. The designer notes: “Many of the silhouettes are typically seen as feminine which is something I wanted to challenge in this gender-neutral collection.”
Kirsten Walker’s garments and fashion show investigate the naked female body, focusing on how it is both sexualised and censored.
Sylvie Baka’s fashion exhibition was inspired by the three African materials: the Ghana bag, raffia and beads, dating back to the 17th century.
