Erin Ledsom

Colour and pattern are important elements in Ledsom’s work. The artist uses unconventional materials to help express her feelings and bring the work to life. Through my Eyes is a personal story that focuses on Ledsom’s hometown: Hull. Using materials such as straws, pipe cleaners and pom-poms to add texture, alongside 3D beading, goldwork, crewelwork and raised techniques, Ledsom’s design focuses on a sense of place and belonging, exploring preconceptions of the city. Ledsom’s work is unusual and fun. The artist hopes it will positively showcase Hull’s cultural heritage, make residents feel proud of their home and help others to see it in a new light.
