Ellie Covington believes that as a designer you can never stop learning. This keeps her interest piqued; editorial design is her passion. She is open to whatever opportunities might come her way, allowing a level of flexibility and freedom into her practice. Her design greatly relies on using visuals to create a narrative, acting as a primary method of communication. Her final major project educates new homeowners on the devastating effects of bee extinction. She uses something we all know – our diets to demonstrate how important bees are on our lives and the wider ecosystem. She wants to communicate a message to people considering new homes in developments and the impact these projects cause on bee populations. Her overarching ambition was to create a project that counteracted the negative effects of large-scale housing developments up and down the country. The message is clear: a great sense of loss. This emotion is expressed by pixelating and redacting certain elements of the publication, with the intention of creating change for the better in terms of our environment.
