Elice Nelson

Elice Nelson

For Elice Nelson’s final year collection, she created a AW20/21 menswear collection inspired by Grime music and London street culture. Growing up in South West London, Grime was the soundtrack to her childhood in the mid to late 2000s. The media has always tarnished grime/drill with gangs, hooded boys, offensive, lyrics and criminal behaviour. Nelson wanted to change this stereotypical view and embrace the culture of diversity and raw authentic street expression. By incorporating cultural colours, collaged prints and ethnic faces. Nelson wanted to show the culture in a positive light and its history of music and clothing, to make a statement that Grime isn’t always negative. She want to give grime a voice and its importance to the culture.
