The Commitment to Perfection is an empowering and feminine graduate collection. Visually inspired by the 1950s and digital glitch visuals. The collection features hand stitched slogans inspired by the theme of equality and independence. The title of Katherine Messider’s graduate collection, The Commitment to Perfection, is a play on the old outdated stereotype of the commitment a woman has to a man when they are married and the pressures that are then put upon a woman to be perceived as perfect. Throughout her collection, Messider demonstrates how you can be a strong, confident, and independent individual who does not feel it is a necessity to seek the approval of anyone other than themselves.
