The inspiration behind graphic designer Alicia Latham’s project, Someone’s Bad Hair Day, stems from personal experience as a woman of colour with ‘afro’ hair – and the problems and insecurities it presents. The storybook tells the tale of a young child of colour who struggles to create the perfect style for their first day at school. ”To promote a healthy self-image, I believe it is important to celebrate the natural hair of children of colour from a young age,” says Latham.
