Zara Gabriel

Zara Gabriel has combined elements – tapestries, sculptures and hidden words – to create an installation. A paint-covered tapestry on a wall and a draped white blanket over handmade stairs symbolise disability and the climb: a journey and the feeling of being out of reach. Sculptures were placed on the steps, visualising the struggles of disabled people. Gabriel explores the journey as an artist with a disability and mental illness, and uses a variety of media and techniques.
