Anthony McCall’s (b. 1946) creations go beyond the familiar boundaries between sculpture, cinema, and drawing. They are imaginative, dream-like experiences. For his first solo museum exhibition in North America, McCall presents Dark Rooms, Solid Light, filled with cavernous spaces with shifting pillars of white light.
The artist projects line drawings that pulsate over time, inviting guests to wander within. Each experience is unique in this way – pulling audiences into an interactive arena. The display also includes several of McCall’s earliest performance films, a slide projection and notebooks which feature his extensive works on paper.
Anthony McCall: Dark Rooms, Solid Light opens from 16 August to 3 November at 1905 Building, Albright-Knox, Buffalo. Find out more here.
