Minjie Lv uses the lens to select a part of the existing world to express ideas, seeing photography as a form of painting. She constructs pre-visualised images that exist in her mind, and these can be applied to other visual media such as installations and videos. Lv’s current focus is on minimalism – drawing upon traditional Chinese paintings and poetry, she applies the aesthetic of negative space to frame the work, allowing the viewer tto find their own personal resonances.
