On Kawara’s One Million Years (Reading) opens today at Venice Biennale. The installation calls upon volunteers to gather and read from the title volumes, listing dates one million years into the future and also into the past. Through the performative actions, viewers are invited to reflect upon time, alternating between male and female narrators, locals and visitors to provide a colossal voice for the masses, uniting across borders and times.
