2025: A Year in Covers

2025: A Year in Covers

As the year draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary visionaries who shaped our pages in 2025. From evocative portraiture to daring conceptual work, these cover images capture the spirit of contemporary creativity and artistic exploration. Across the past 12 months, each artist has brought their unique voice to the fore, inviting us to see the world anew through colour, form and imagination. Here are the six remarkable photographers that made it onto our cover this year.

Sarah Doyle | The imaginative contemporary photography of Dublin-based Sarah Doyle plays with shapes and colours, to offer up a joyful viewing experience.

Maria Svarbova | Simplicity, detachment and symmetry are among the hallmarks of artist Maria Svarbova’s distinctive style, from the Swimming Pool series and beyond.

Sanja Marušić | The artist combines collage, costume, painting and the camera to craft otherworldly settings where playful, surreal narratives unfold in unexpected ways.

Fares Micue | Balloons, origami butterflies, paper cranes and blooming flowers appear in Fares Micue’s self portraits, which are full of hopeful symbolism.

Margeaux Walter | Staged scenes from Margeaux Walter are built on location, taking everyday household objects out of their usual context to create an uncanny effect.

Tamara Dean | The photographer’s flower-drenched images remind us that humans are neither separated from, nor superior to, the environment that surrounds us.
