Urban Periphery

Urban Periphery

Connecting the Ruhr and Mississippi rivers, NRW Forum Duesseldorf’s latest exhibition highlights work by German artist Joachim Brohm (b. 1955) and American photographer Alec Soth (b. 1969).

As documentarians of social environments, the two practitioners capture sensitive depictions of German and US landscapes and communities. Both photographers engage with the sociological, economic and cultural implications of urban development, and in these series explore people on the periphery of the river.
