Unstaged Portraits

Unstaged Portraits

Recently included in the BBC’s 100 Women list and recognised by artist and activist Ai Weiwei, photographer Luo Yang (b. 1984) captures intimate portraits of women. A powerful assertion of identity, the raw images explore shifting notions of femininity in China.

Each unstaged work functions as a personal diary entry, recording moments from Yang’s private life whilst commenting more widely on themes of youth and the experiences of women today.

9 and 12 December in Bangkok, a 10-year retrospective art exhibition of photographer Luo Yang’s GIRLS series will be co-curated by Chomwan Weeraworawit and RDX Offsite. Presented by Moonduckling and produced by Annette Fausboll, Jean Alexandre Luciani and Julien Favre, it is the first of a solo exhibition of a multi-city show.

The images are on view at DX Offsite, Bangkok, from 10-22 December, and Woof Pack, Bangkok, from 12-22 December. Find out more here.
