Stylish Constructs

Daniel Korzewa

Inspired by a dream to become a film director, Polish photographer Daniel Korzewa (b. 1988) was drawn to the cinematic glamour of fashion imagery. Dissatisfied with the momentary creativity involved in documentary image-making, Korzewa moved away from street photography and into stylised shots in order to express his artistic side in the careful construction of sets, clothing, lighting and scenery. Influenced by books, music and the seminal works of David Lynch, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese, Korzewa uses skills more associated with filmmaking to construct scenes laden with drama and dialogue. His perfectly poised models inhabit a variety of settings, and Korzewa combines impressive architecture with eclectic styling to create striking aesthetics and depth. The following collection of images is a selection from Korzewa’s stunning output and demonstrates his ability to transform familiar settings into glamorous scenery with an interesting backstory. These photographs are extracted from his series The Little Black Duck and A New Error.
