Grover’s final project has been inspired by marine life and underwater worlds – constantly changing environments that offer unique natural patterns and expansive forms. She is also influenced by the work of Iris Van Herpen and Alexander McQueen, who have both used the sea as inspiration for their various successful collections. Taking an empirical approach, Giver visited various museums and institutions, taking anatomical sketches and documentation of the experience and research in-person. This first-hand experience was then translated into investigative work using various materials that could replicate the experience and ephemerality of nature, utilising organza, bubble wrap and cellophane. Her final garment plays with the form and texture of jellyfish.
