Jessica Haines

Jessica Haines

Inspiration has always come to Jessica Haines’ from her grandad. She was given his autobiography, and this provided an opportunity to take a deeper look into his past as an evacuee, Royal Navy servicemen and his career as a nurse. Jess took elements from all his monumental life events and incorporated them into her collection. The reason for this was therapeutic; it provided closure to the final chapters of his autobiography, a tribute and celebration to his life. Her collection stands out in colour and the concept of each garment. Blue tones representing his time at sea, and grey tones reflect the war. Haines included pink to illustrate how he still managed to have love and compassion for family and anyone he encountered.  This is a powerful message to society, which is now expressed through her streetwear. This allowed her to show resilience, love and respect to her grandad thus leaving a legacy.
