Amy Harrity (b. 1985) was 21 years old when she decided to “drop everything” and move from Kentucky to San Francisco with dreams of a fresh start. Once settled in California – nicknamed the Golden State – she began to hone a distinct artistic vision, and a keen eye for people and places. Today, Harrity is an established editorial and commercial photographer known for a playful and sensitive approach to image-making. Her style is characterised by simplicity, intimacy and curiosity. Each image foregrounds human emotions – distilling subjects’ personal experiences into compositions that ripple with honesty and clarity. In the following pages, youthful models pose gleefully with yellow balls, balance on ladders and lie amongst fields of dainty wildflowers. Harrity’s selected clients include Adidas, Levi’s, Nike, Nordstrom, Uniqlo, Glamour, The New York Times and Rolling Stone.
