Imaginative Platforms

The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art, returns to London in October, hosted at the Old Truman Brewery. Renowned as one of the leading fairs that promotes the discovery of emerging talent, the bi-annual fair provides a platform for new generations of visionaries. Having grown significantly in size and reputation, TOAF now has editions both in the UK and abroad – in Bristol, Sydney, Melbourne and New York, with others soon to be confirmed. The London edition takes place during Art Week, offering a selection of works that have been individually chosen for their individuality, innovation and imagination, spanning 130 new names in all mediums.

A wholly immersive event, TOAF also promotes the notion of contemporary art as a collective and enriching experience for all attendees – those working in the field, aficionados, collectors or otherwise. This year, the fair promises to uphold this ethos with appearances from a Guest Art, interactive theatre performances and live music – creating an encompassing cultural event that celebrates the idea of inclusivity and diversity.

Notable names for 2017 include Carolina Mizrahi, who creates vivid worlds where gender, identity and composition are redefined through surreal block colours and an attention to the wider, mass generated media. Also included in the line-up is Cody Choi, who creates evocative dance photography reflective of movement as an expressive language. The pieces on display demonstrate his acumen in dance and contemporary image-making by being able to immerse himself into intimate visual dialogues with the performers on stage.

The Other Art Fair takes place in The Old Truman Brewery, 5-8 October. For more information: www.theotherartfair.com
