Holzer: Language Systems

Tate Modern’s Artist’s Rooms: Jenny Holzer opens, featuring a diverse range of work by the American artist. Her bold, text-based pieces deliver powerful messages, bringing into focus ideas of media stimulation and information overload whilst questioning belief systems and power structures.

Taking the form of LED installations, posters, projections and textiles, the pieces offer eye-catching yet poetic sentiments, holding up a mirror to contemporary society. As Holzer notes: “I wanted a lot simultaneously: to leave art outside for the public, to be a painter of mysterious yet ordered works, to be explicit but not didactic, to find the right subjects, to transform spaces, to disorient and transfix people, to offer up beauty, to be funny and never lie.”

Until 31 July 2019. Find out more here.
