Fictional Landscapes

Eugenio Recuenco

Spanish photographer and filmmaker Eugenio Recuenco (b. 1968) recounts fantastical tales using exquisite sets and imaginative styling. His fairytale productions combine fine art with high-end fashion, and he places extravagantly clad models into detailed scenery to create theatrically surreal imagery. In a desire to construct extended stories Recuenco moved from still photography into directing, and he will soon begin shooting a new short film Second Defeat. His captivating and dream-like work has attracted a varied clientele and he has collaborated with Vogue, Marie Claire, Yves Saint Laurent and Nina Ricci, as well as German metal band Rammstein. Because of the highly crafted nature of his pieces, he has also seen his practice celebrated in a number of exhibitions at Kunsthalle Rostock and Camera Work Contemporary, Berlin, amongst others. A retrospective of his beautiful work is published in the collection REVUE by teNeues. The following photographs are an overview of Recuenco’s breathtaking oeuvre.
