Anselm Kiefer – Works from the Grothe Collection, Serlachius Museums, Finland

This autumn Serlachius Museum, Finland, presents a series of monumental paintings by renowned contemporary artist Anselm Kiefer. This is the first time that Kiefer’s output is being shown on such an extensive scale in Finland.  The exhibition features nearly 30 monumental works from the German Grothe Collection and fills the museum’s Gösta Pavilion completely. Kiefer is a storyteller, whose themes are drawn from history, literature and philosophy and relate, for example, to painful episodes in the history of Germany and of Europe as a whole. Until 24 April 2016.

Anselm Kiefer’s Shevirat Ha-Kelim: The Breaking of the Vessels appeared in Issue 44. Read the full article at www.aestheticamagazine.com/confronting-the-past.
