Zara Matthews’ series of paintings and prints relate to beds in hotel rooms. Like a secular annunciation, the images appear as light enters a darkened room. Her work is focused around a sense of presence and aura surrounding abandoned objects, still lives and places. Matthew’s was awarded The Wapping Project Residency, Berlin in 2015 and was nominated for The Max Mara Art Prize for Women in 2017.
