Tom Butler makes artwork about the twin human desires to simultaneously be concealed and perform. The images express a natural inclination towards introversion, creating performative pieces that are essentially about hiding. Figure #12 is a self-portrait from a growing series of images where the artist attempts to disappear in an empty space.
