In 2021, Messam was awarded Visual Artist of the Year at the Newcastle Journal Culture Awards. A year later, Messam’s large-scale inflatable installation “Portico” was displayed in front of York Art Gallery as part of the 2022 Aesthetica Prize Finalists Exhibition. He collaborates with National Trust.
