Sachi Satomi’s multidisciplinary practice includes painting, sculpture and installation, from which she seeks inspiration – which is crucial to the creative process. Sachi notes: “Our perception of reality usually stops at the surface. Often the important things in life are not visible to the naked eye but these are what I like to reveal: to shed light on.” Satomi’s resulting pieces are based upon audience participation: asking them to look beyond the boundaries of perception and open doors into larger metaphysical and psychological meanings. Here, texture and colour reign in minimalist compositions that are both subtle and delicately nuanced.
