Roanna Wells

Purely Repetitive and Therefore Structural

Roanna Wells’ portfolio, as a whole, considers the line between order and chaos – the juxtaposition of control and spontaneity – through the use of detailed mark-making. She is interested in the visual and emotional effects of repetition, through both the meditative mindset in which the work is produced, and the complex variety of interpretations that can be experienced by the viewer through its aesthetic simplicity. Wells’ current series of watercolour paintings focuses on depth of movement whilst gently disrupting linear structures, exploring the modes with which we can relinquish control and expectations, either as a viewer, or as an artist.
