Three Red Tulips was Joan’s shortlisted piece of fiction for the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award 2020. It was also long-listed in the William Van Dyke Short Story Prize. Joan has since been highly commended in the Gatehouse Press New Fiction Prize. In 2021 he was shortlisted for the University of Essex International Short Story Prize. He has also published work in the prestigious anthology Nightscript.
