Wormholes
For Leanna Moran, the gesture of circle drawing (originally adopted as a coping mechanism for anxiety) eventually translated into a ritualistic watercolour practice, becoming a positive cognitive tool. Moran believes the circle represents calming notions of eternal totality, primarily exploring fragilities of the human condition. Simplistic colour palettes allow her to focus on the act of painting hundreds upon thousands of circles, without imposing bold distraction onto herself. Moran’s paintings of dreamlike, celestial expanses record both time and intense contemplation. The meditative act has become therapeutic in an overwhelming world.
