Susan Sontag stated that “to take a photograph is to participate in another person’s mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” Kunal Kohli is an awarding-winning Indian photographer, born and raised in Oslo, and currently based in New York. Kohli regards himself as a narrative photographer, focused on capturing and connecting with stories from everyday life – the image becoming a springboard into “seeing” as opposed to merely “looking”. It is essential for Kohli that each work offers relatable emotions – ones that can be felt beyond the boundaries of an image.
