The portraits of an Orthodox Jewish family in Kovi Konowiecki’s Bei Mir Bistu Shein represent an attempt to capture the ethereal qualities of faith and mysticism. The floral background creates a painting-like quality, evoking a liminal space between past and modernity. Konowiecki’s practice makes use of portraiture in order to address identity.
