Once considered precious as gold, harnessed as a “poor man’s silver”, aluminium is the material of both the kitchen and the aeroplane – the essence of the Modernist Dream. Donna Marcus utilises discarded aluminium kitchenware with beautifully grazed surfaces, bringing a past to new assemblages. Rose speaks to the memory of the grand and the humble, inviting viewers into a world both remembered and imagined.
