Charles de Agustin primarily makes films, performances and texts that contend with the limits of complicity and critique. His 2021 expanded video work Reading Time (minimum 17 minutes) is narrated by a precarious artist-worker who is endlessly reproduced within and for the mythic – purportedly egalitarian – office-seminar environment. The narrator performs an insidious form of white guilt whilst playing with the capital-D / P / A of the diaristic, poetic and academic. Charles de Agustin is currently working on several projects across the media of drawing, writing, video and event performance, to expand out from these core ideas.
