NOT AN EXIT is a collection of large format photographs that proposes a closer examination of nondescript interiors through which we pass. Doorways and hallways are spaces intended for movement, but here they somehow appear impenetrable. Both banal and bizarre, these Kafka-esque locations draw the eye deep into the picture, only to be thwarted. As viewers, we are going somewhere and yet there seems to be no way out. Austin Irving is a Los Angeles-based visual artist who works with large format analogue photography. She has exhibited in Hong Kong, India, Germany, France, England and the USA. She is represented by Wilding Cran Gallery.
