Kate Simpson is Assistant Editor of Aesthetica Magazine, having joined the team in 2016. She works across digital and print platforms, producing content for international readerships across art, architecture, design, fashion, film and photography. Kate has also been involved in a number of editorial initiatives and related projects including The Future Now Symposium, The Aesthetica Art Prize and the BAFTA-Recognised Aesthetica Short Film Festival.
Lotte Inch
Gallery Director, Lotte Inch Gallery
Lotte is a freelance curator and director of Lotte Inch Gallery which opened in York in 2015. She comes from a background in Heritage & Museums, having worked for organisations such as the National Trust and Leeds University Art Gallery. Her areas of expertise lie in the realm of painting, printmaking and ceramics. She is the co-founder of the York Galleries Network, a founding member of the Guild of Media Arts and an advocate for young artists.
Sam Broadhead
Leeds Arts University
Samantha is Head of Research and Programme Leader for the MA Creative Practice, Leeds Arts University. She has worked as an artist since the 1990s with an interest in widening participation in the arts. Recently, she has curated Ann O’Donnell: Modernist Jewellery Designer, which explored jewellery design in the 1950s and 1960s. Samantha also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Widening Participation and Lifelong Learning.
Helen Turner
Subject Director Fine Art, Illustration and Photography, York St John University
Helen Turner has worked in HE since 2003 and has a background in Public Art, with a specialism in Textiles. She is experienced in arts project management and participatory practice including Arts in Health projects and projects in schools and informal educational settings. Her research interests explore the creation of artefact through performance.
Jeff Clark
Art of Protest Gallery, York
Jeff started out in the creative world through learning both the technical and artistic elements of photography. He has curated art shows around the world, and has worked with retrospective collections of Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons. He founded Art of Protest Gallery with business partner Craig as a platform for underrepresented art from the last 30 years.

Sonia is the Education Manager and Events Producer at Magnum Photos in London. She develops and produces photography workshops, masterclasses and the Magnum x London College of Communication Intensive Documentary Photography course. Shawn Waldron

Shawn Waldron is a New York City-based photography curator. A member of the Getty Images Consumer Prints team since 2017, Shawn is the lead curator for the Getty Images Gallery in London and responsible for the offerings on photos.com. From 2003 to 2016, Shawn was Archive Director at Condé Nast. He revamped the company’s archival program and founded the Condé Nast Gallery. He has written and lectured on photography for many international publishers and institutions.
Hannah Starkey
Photographer
Hannah Starkey’s photographs reconstruct cinematic scenes from everyday life, using actors within carefully considered settings. Starkey’s images centre around the female experience, evoking suggestive narratives through their appropriation of cultural templates: issues of class, race, gender, and identity are implied. Starkey has featured in The Guardian and Financial Times, and in collections at Tate, London, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, and the Seattle Art Museum.
Rick Copsey
Artist & Lecturer, Manchester School of Art.
Rick’s art practice works across the terrains of painting and lens based media. He has exhibited widely, most recently showing photographic and video works in concurrent solo exhibitions in Odessa and Kiev, Ukraine. Public collections include the Russian Museum of Non-Conformist Art, National Art Museum of Moldova and the Institute of Romanian Culture. Awards include a Diploma of Excellence from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.
Damon Jackson-Waldock
Deputy Curator, Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Damon Jackson-Waldock is Deputy Curator at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, an international centre for modern and contemporary art set in 500 acres of historic parkland. Offering five galleries and an 18th-century chapel, it presents year-round exhibitions of work by renowned and emerging artists. Offsite projects include guest curation for at The Piece Hall, Halifax (2018-19), and he is a Career Mentor at Sheffield Hallam University.

Patrick Allen
Senior Lecturer, University of Bradford
Patrick has taught Media Design for over 25 years and during this time has coached thousands of University students and practitioners in Creative Practice, Visual Design, Digital Storytelling and Audience Research. He currently leads the Virtual and Augmented Reality Programme at the University of Bradford. His research integrates media technology, urban design and embodiment (augmented spaces).

Louise Lohr is Assistant Curator at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP). Alongside working on the temporary exhibition programme, recently including Alfredo Jaar, Giuseppe Penone and David Smith, Louise supports early and mid-career artist residencies and the YSP Graduate progamme. Louise is on the board of Gallery Town in Rotherham, which supports the development and appreciation of art in local communities.
Gonzalo Herrero Delicado
Architecture Curator, Royal Academy
Gonzalo Herrero is Curator of the Architecture Department at the Royal Academy of Arts in London where he has curated many public programmes, projects and exhibitions including Invisible Landscapes (2018-2019), Futures Found (2017) and the upcoming Eco-Visionaries (2019-2020). He held different curatorial positions at The Architecture Foundation and the Design Museum, where he co-edited the book Fear and Love (Phaidon, 2016).

Hannah Hughes is Press Manager at Flowers, a leading gallery exhibiting contemporary painting, sculpture, photography and prints in London and New York. Janice Li is a curator of design, fashion and material culture, with interests in diversity, sustainability and the crossing over of art and science. An alumna of the Royal College of Art, she has curated the touring Designing Craft Crafting Design, Food Symphony (MoMA Biodesign), and was part of Victoria & Albert Museum’s Fashioned from Nature. In 2019, she is curating exhibitions at Salone del Mobile and Venice Design.

Alessandro Vincentelli is Curator of Exhibitions & Research at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead. He previously worked as a Curator at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and at the Arts Council England. He initially trained in Social Anthropology before completing the Contemporary Curating Course at the Royal College of Art, London. Kit is a leading innovator in screen-based art and interactive media. He directed the visually experimental feature Macbeth and co-directed The Knife That Killed Me. He is also co-founder of KMA – an artistic collaboration that specialises in environmental installations.

Craig Humble
Art of Protest Gallery, York
Craig Humble is a founding partner of the Art of Protest Gallery in York. He studied Fine Art at Leeds College of Art and has a BA in History of Art, specialising in 19th century sculpture. Before opening the gallery, Craig was the Northern Sales Director for a publishers Gallery group, responsible for 18 UK galleries and working with a large number of managers and art consultants.

Shasti Lowton
Curator, The Design Museum
Shasti Lowton is a curator and art consultant who using exhibitions promote social change. Her research specialisms are in Latin American, South Asian, African and conflict art. Projects include collaborations with the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, The National Trust and Southbank Centre. Lowton curated the Science Museum Group’s award-winning Illuminating India: Photography 1857 – 2017 and is currently Curator of the Design Museum’s Designers in Residence Programme.
Charles Danby
Senior Lecturer in Fine Art, Northumbria University
Charles works collaboratively across painting, photography, film, object construction, writing and curation with artist Rob Smith as a member of the collective NEUSCHLOSS. Charles is on the board of Norwegian Collaborative Organisation For Contemporary Art Abroad. He curated an exhibitions programme for choreographer Siobhan Davies at her London studios 2009-12, was editor of Tanks Programme Notes 2012 for Tate Modern, and assistant editor of Miser & Now Magazine 2009-11.

Lilli Geissendorfer is the new Director of Jerwood Arts, an independent grant-making foundation and UK registered charity dedicated to supporting talent and excellence. Lilli has a background as a theatre producer with an interest in creating definitive new work with outstanding artists. Previous roles include Producer at Almeida Theatre and Relationship Manager for Theatre at Arts Council England. Lilli co-produced the first HighTide Festival in 2007.

Xueni Pan has worked in VR for more than 10 years and has developed a unique interdisciplinary research profile with journal and conference publications in both VR technology and social neuroscience. Her work in training and education in VR has been featured multiple times in the media, including BBC Horizon and the New Scientist magazine. Previous roles include research associate in Computer Science, UCL, and in the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (ICN).

Mila Askarova
Director, Gazelli Art House
Mila Askarova founded Gazelli Art House, London, in 2010 as a second space to the gallery in Baku. Through these contemporary art spaces and the creation of educational programmes, seminars and exhibitions, Mila has increased awareness of Azeri artists abroad. Upon completion of her International Relations BSc degree at LSE, she worked at Sotheby’s whilst curating shows in Baku and Istanbul. She is an alumna of Central Saint Martins and Christie’s, and is featured in the Financial Times.

Jane Bhoyroo
Producer, Yorkshire Sculpture International
Jane Bhoyroo is the producer of Yorkshire Sculpture International, UK’s largest sculpture festival taking place across Leeds and Wakefield in summer 2019. The event will take over four world-renowned cultural institutions: Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery, The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Previously, Jane worked as a curator for Leeds Art Gallery and Arts Council’s sculpture collection. Prior to this, she was the Relationship Manager for Arts Council England.

Mat Lazenby

Mat Lazenby is a key figure in York’s creative industries sector. Most recently, he was part of the group which created the bid for York to become a UNESCO City of Media Arts. Before founding York-based design agency LazenbyBrown he worked in senior creative positions for agencies in York and Leeds. Lazenby often speaks in educational institutions, has developed brand design projects for a host of local and national brands, and was the 2017 Master of the Guild of Media Arts.

Klair Bird is a co-owner of Spectrum Photographic, a fine art and photographic printing company based in Brighton, Sussex.
