Lucy-May Turner

Lucy-May Turner

Lucy-May Turner has a passion for colour and graphic imagery. Her practice removes stereotypes and the sexualisation of women from high-end fashion magazines. Utilising colour and collage to juxtapose the two-dimensional, monochromatic imagery encountered in advertising, she counteracts women’s predisposition of comparing themselves to the unrealistic body imagery. This work featured here is Collage 12 out of a series comprising hundreds of works. The images were sourced a number of editions of Vogue. Lucy uses Gelli Printing to transfer the magazine imagery to other surfaces, in effect, distorting the original picture. Her conceptual aims are achieved by using mass presentation in grid formations, which create a sensory overload. She has been inspired by Quentin Jones, Andy Warhol and Tyler Spangler.
