K Eliza is an experimental artist. Through abstract approaches and multi-media techniques, Eliza unearths and releases deep-rooted emotions as part of a cathartic process based on the reclamation or rebirth of the self. The Artist’s practice centres on a range of integrated media, from paintings, drawings and prints that use acrylics, soft pastels and foodstuff, to wearable sculptures and costumes. A variety of textiles and fabrics are integrated with performances with ritualistic overtones. K Eliza builds on Third Wave Feminism and other contemporary movements that challenge identity and the body, as well as notion of power. Influences are drawn from a diverse range of artists or prominent thinkers such as Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Sigmund Freud, Julia Kristeva and Björk.
