Experimental Dutch designer Joris Laarman and his team apply innovative digital technologies to the design process. An exhibition at Cooper Hewitt, New York, displays an overview of his practice, including furniture generated by smart algorithms and the world’s first functional 3-D printed bridge. His breakthrough work, the Bone Chair, highlights society’s reciprocal relationship with nature by mimicking the mechanisms of bone growth.
