PAN Amsterdam, one of the world’s leading art fairs, returns to the Dutch capital from 2-9 November 2025. The 38h edition offers more diversity than ever before, with 125 participating galleries across 21 categories including antiques, contemporary art, cultural objects, design, furniture, jewellery, paintings and prints. Today, we’re spotlighting five photographers on show at the event. This inspiring selection includes everything from Edward Hopper-inspired portraiture and poolside symmetry, to towering glaciers and depictions of migrating birds – representing the awe-inspiring range of what’s on view.

Michael Najjar, Arctic Sheild | ARTITLEDcontemporary, Herpen

ARTITLEDcontemporary presents the work of Michael Najjar, a German artist, explorer and future astronaut. His image spotlights the Jakobshavn Glacier in Greenland, a natural phenomena first studied 250 years ago, which has significantly contributed to modern understandings of climate change. It is one of the fastest-moving glaciers globally and has undergone dramatic changes due to global warming.

Andrés Gallego, Morning Sun (2022) | Galerie Helder, The Hague

Andrés Gallego is fascinated by the work of the 20th-century American painter Edward Hopper, who used initially used photography as a guide for his artwork. In Morning Sun, the artist reflects Hopper’s quiet portraits of his own wife, Jo, with images of his partner in bed, dappled in the morning sunlight. Gallego recreates the scenes from the window on canvas with acrylic paint, honouring Hopper’s techniques.

Sophie de Vos, Beyond The Surface (2025) | Root Gallery, Krimpen aan de Lek

At Root Gallery,  Sophie de Vos intertwines different interpretations of “reflection”, exploring the intersection between ITS literal and metaphorical aspects. In this series, Sophie incorporates glass as a physical and conceptual layer over her subjects, manipulating its positioning to create dynamic visual distortions. By alternating and playing with these layers, she raises profound questions about perception.

Vincent Munier, Bramblings (2023) | FLAT // LAND, Amsterdam

Bramblings by wildlife photographer Vincent Munier is a dazzling picture of thousands of birds annual migration from Scandinavia and Russia. At first glance, the artist has captured chaos unfolding in the natural world, but a closer look reveals the synchronicity and inherent ability to navigate that these creatures possess. Here, the birds seem to dance together as one fluid and ever-changing unit.

Maria Svarbova, Untitled | ARTITLEDcontemporary, Herpen

Photographer Mária Švarbová (b. 1988) is best known for her memorable Swimming Pool portraits. The shots, which rely on symmetry and geometry, position athletes in brightly coloured costumes against stark indoor recreation spaces. Figures stand stoic and controlled against minimalist architecture. These compositions evoke a sense of nostalgia, but the focus on abandoned locations feels distinctly modern.
