Simon Kerola (a.k.a Johnny Keethon) is a Swedish self-taught photographer. Inspired by the films of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, he “explores the romance in melancholia.”
Desolate landscapes feature mournful characters. They are haunted by black ravens and obscured from view, either through the windows of abandoned buildings or from all-encompassing shadows.
In other works, Kerola deftly navigates burning buildings, dark woodlands and celestial night skies. Sharp, emotional and affective, these images feature high-contrast lighting and compelling storylines.
