An Evolving Genre

Questioning the boundaries between fine art and documentary photography, Doing the Document: Photographs from Diane Arbus to Piet Zwart at Museum Ludwig, Cologne, offers a range of images from across the generations. From portraiture to architectural studies, the selection captures the zeitgeist of the 20th and 21st centuries through colour and black and white imagery.The show comprises work by Diane Arbus, Boris Becker, Karl Blossfeldt, Walker Evans, Lee Friedlander, Candida Höfer, Gabriele and Helmut Nothhelfer, Tata Ronkholz, Albert Renger-Patzsch, August Sander, Hugo and Karl Hugo Schmölz, Garry Winogrand, Piet Zwart and more.
