Having lived with violence and trauma, Joseph has been inspired to present the connections between family and a physical, lived experience. For many, pain and suffering are integral in the experience of heritage, domesticity and close genetic relationships. Joseph brings this to light, inspired by personal memories of both bodily and psychological pain, working out the connective ties between family and understanding of trepidation. The artist is passionate about utilising art as a mechanism to instil empathy and insight into scars that cannot immediately be seen or understood.
