Kormos is a Hungarian-born designer who, before studying at Buckinghamshire New University, studied at jewellery and silversmithing at Birmingham City University. Kormos enjoys working with metal, from very small scale jewellery to larger scale handheld tools. Mechanical and intricate, Kormos’ works transform animalistic characteristics through ball-bearing joints, hinges and rivets. He implements a sense of movement through technical innovation, paying attention the most minute details. Experienced with traditional bench work, CAD and laser welding, the designer’s final project is an openable spherical lockbox that resembled a three-banded Armadillo.
