Nicole Robinson

This collection was created to address the inequality between menswear and womenswear in fashion. Robinson aimed to bring awareness to the feminist movement and promote equality, so womenswear can adopt traditional styles from menswear. For example, pinstripe and gingham fabrics that were stereotypically worn by men have been reproduced to create her womenswear collection. Pockets and fastenings featured in some of the garments have been constructed in reference to utility clothing. Robinson believes that modern society is becoming increasingly familiar with the discarding of gender clothing and in order to address this, the silhouettes throughout the collection are shapeless to erase the sexualisation of womenswear. The result of women’s power to achieve equality has echoed in the title of my collection Co-equal.
