Maya Gurung-Russell Campbell

Drawing inspiration from the longstanding traditions of mask-making and masquerade in the Caribbean and Nepal, Maya Gurung-Russell Campbell is a Brixton-based artist who creates evocative landscapes that explore dual heritage in a wide range of mediums. Incorporating sound, moving image, oral history, poetry and analogue photography, the artist’s practice places matrilineal mythologies and lived experience at its core, whilst still interrogating universal themes.
