Henri Prestes is a Portuguese cinematographer and photographer based in southern Europe. The Perfect Darkness series was shot in secluded and isolated villages, surrounded by dense fog, heavy rain and snow.

The series explores moments of melancholy – deep shadows and aquamarine palettes cut across the compositions, with small glimpses of humanity emerging from the corners.

Prestes’ images highlight the feeling of desolation within the landscape – where hazy skies and ominous doorways invite the viewer into a psychological playground.
